Barcelona, in 2009, had a song called “Please Don’t Go” featured in a YouTube aquarium video which to this day has garnered 5.5 million views. Barcelona said that they are ‘flattered’ and attributes their success to the hype. In a video response:

“We want to let you know that it’s been affirming in the last week to watch, in the iTunes store, a correlation with the sales of our record Absolutes, growing in the rock charts, as a result of having the song placed in the video.”

While a song used as soundtrack in a YouTube video is not typically considered the worst form of pirating, the use of copyrighted songs is considered an offense by the RIAA and similar organizations.
